The Craylands School Attendance

Attendance at The Craylands School

Our expectation at The Craylands School is for children to attend 100%

For all attendance queries please email attendance@craylands.kent.sch.uk

Parents are expected to...

Make sure their child attends every day on time
It is the parents’ responsibility to contact the school on the first day their child is absent. This is a safeguarding issue requirement so that all parties know that your child is safe and their whereabouts is known. Please call in by 9 am on the first day of absence, keep us updated and follow up with a written note on your child’s return.
Pupils are expected to arrive by 8.48am (past 8.48 is late) All pupils that arrive late must report, with their parent/carer to the signing in machine in the main entrance
Term time holidays should not be taken
Call the school to report their child’s absence before 9am on the day of the absence and each subsequent day of absence and advise when they are expected to return
Provide the school with more than one emergency contact number for their child
Ensure that, where possible, appointments for their child are made outside of the school day
Keep to any attendance contracts that they make with the school and/or local authority
Seek support, where necessary, for maintaining good attendance, by contacting the Parent and Pupil Support Team who can be contacted via 01322 388230

Timeline of the Staged Approach for Managing Poor Attendance

95 - 100% attendance – Pupil and Parent Support Team to investigate and to contact parent if appropriate.
90 - 95% attendance - school intervention letters/meeting with parents
Where the level of absence has not improved and there are unauthorised absences, the school will make a referral to the KCC Inclusion and Attendance Service using the Digital Front Door. If it is not clear a referral to the Service is appropriate, the school will consult with the Local Authority School Liaison Officer for advice.
For the cases that require intensive family support, the School may make an Early Help Notification
